Bruising means stress fractures on shins?

In track when we do long runs, one point in my shin would start hurting but I'm able to run fairly okay on it. My shins get a little tight still since my shin splints are still in the process of getting better. After I run, the point where my shins were hurting would be running would be bruised. It was on the upper half of the shin

Does this mean stress fractures? I don't really know since it doesn't cause extreme discomfort.

firstly the term shin splints is bad to use.... there are several different diagnosis that it could be referring to.

id imagine that as your running on hard surfaces you may have Medial Tibial Stress Syndrome. It would require ice and if continually painful you could get insoles of some sort.

it could be compartment syndrome or a stress fracture but you would require scans/testing to find out

sounds like shin splints... Try changing your shoes. Something with more support.
about 3 weeks ago, i would have said... uh... no, because stress fractures don't cause external bruising.

buuuut i have had shin splints for ages, and about two and a half weeks ago i started getting this kind of weird bruise down the from of my right shin that kept getting worse. i have 2 stress fractures.

they don't hurt like crazy, but it's harder to make the pain go away and now i have to take it easy for a couple of weeks. i'd get it checked out- bruising if you're not smashing into things isn't normal.
